“Cretaceous black flysch” in the Pieniny Klippen Belt, West Carpathians: a case of geological misinterpretation

This is a critical assessment of the paper by Oszczypko et al. (2004: Cretaceous Research 25, 89–113), in which they tried to prove a mid-Cretaceous age for the Szlachtowa (“black flysch”) and Opaleniec Formations, in the Pieniny Klippen Belt, West Carpathians, both of which had previously been shown to be of Jurassic age. We argue that the mid-Cretaceous age assignment is a misinterpretation, primarily resulting from their field samples having been collected from some Cretaceous lithostratigraphic units, tectonically associated with the Jurassic formations, and/or from tectonic contact-breccias involving Jurassic and Cretaceous strata. In addition, we suggest that they have overlooked a number of significant palaeontological papers, published since 1962, which record the presence of in situ ammonites, aptychi, belemnites, thin-shelled bivalves (Bositra), gryphaeids, foraminifera, and ostracod assemblages, all indicating a Jurassic (mainly Aalenian), and not a Cretaceous, age for the Szlachtowa Formation, and also the in situ Jurassic (Bajocian) ammonites and thin-shelled bivalves (Bositra), Bositra-microfacies, and age-diagnostic foraminiferal assemblages of the Opaleniec Formation.Our presentation here of recently published dinocyst data from well-preserved assemblages further supports the Jurassic ages for the Szlachtowa (“black flysch”) and Opaleniec Formations.     

Tidal inundation mapping under enhanced land subsidence in Semarang,Central Java Indonesia

Tidal inundation by high tide under enhanced land subsidence is a damaging phenomenon and a major threat to the Semarang urban area in Indonesia. It impacts on economic activities, as well as the cost of an emergency program and causes interruption of pubic services, danger of infectious diseases and injury to human lives. This study examines a spatial analysis tool on the GIS-raster system for the tidal inundation mapping based on the subsidence-benchmark data and modified detail digital elevation model. Neighborhood operation and iteration model as a spatial analysis tool have been applied in order to calculate the encroachment of the tidal inundation on the coastal area. The resulting map shows that the tidal flood spreads to the lowland area and causes the inundation of coastal settlement, infrastructure, as well as productive agricultural land, i.e., the fish-pond area. The monitoring of the vulnerable area due to the tidal inundation under the scenario of extended land subsidence plays an important role in long-term coastal zone management in Semarang.

Underice Operation of SJT-5 ROV

- The authors have used a low-cost ROV of observation type for underice surveying of the Nen-Jiang Cross-river oil pipe line in the Da Qing oil field. The operation method, process and the safety measures for severe cold areas are presented. The fruitful tries and experience may be useful to ROV operators in severe cold areas.

浙江省连续运行卫星定位服务系统技术设计与试验

区域连续运行卫星定位服务系统可为用户提供包括实时高精度位置信息在内的多功能服务系统,近几年,在国内外得到迅速地发展。浙江省有十万多平方公里的陆地面积,如何在如此大的范围内建设连续运行卫星定位服务系统是本文的主要研究内容。本文在充分分析目前相关技术和设备的基础上,从浙江省的实际情况出发,制定科学合理的系统指标以及建设方案,满足系统的科学建设和正常运行的指导要求,并通过试验进行了验证。

RTK在大比例尺地形图航测数字化测图中的应用

结合某开发区1：2000地形图航测数字化测图工程，探讨了采用GPSRTK的自由基站二步法拟合方式测量航外像控点（平高点），实施大比例尺地形图野外检测的可行性。对比测量实验表明，该方式在像控点要求的特定位置不仅能保证平面精度，也可以保证高程精度；与常规的RTK相比，该方式具有基站设置位置灵活、不需单独提前解算基准转换参数，以及显著提高工效等优点。     

低聚合羟基铁离子-蒙脱石复合体吸附砷的实验研究

将提纯的钙蒙脱石与羟基铁离子溶液作用，制备了低聚合羟基铁－蒙脱石复合体，用化学分析，电子探针分析，粉晶X射线衍射分析，差热分析和穆斯堡尔谱分析等手段。对蒙脱石原样，低聚合羟基铁－蒙脱石复合体和相同条件下制备的铁的含水氧化物进行了表征。在实际土壤的酸度（pH=4-7)和温度（18－40℃）条件下，进行了低聚合羟基铁－蒙脱石复合体吸附有害元素砷的实验，探讨了复合体的砷吸附能力与pH值，温度，吸附时间，砷初始浓度，离子强度间的关系，并与蒙脱石和铁的含水氧化物的砷吸附行为进行了对比，研究表明，在实验条件下，低聚合羟基铁－蒙脱石复合体对砷具有明显的亲合力，低聚合羟基铁－蒙脱石复合体吸附砷的过程有可能是地表岩石和土壤中重要的地球化学过程，是影响砷地地表，特别是土壤中迁移，富集的重要因素。
